glambert

larry and i rewatched the lambert performance. here are some thoughts from a Producer’s eyes:

he obviously deviated away from his planned performance. this causes problems on a few levels:

the director has no idea what is going to happen next
the camera operators have no idea whats going to happen next
the LAWYERS have no idea what’s going to happen next

if you rewatch it, you’ll notice they do an awkward cut away to the audience.

the shot is the “safety net” that live performance have set up to cut away to incase another janet jackson ‘nip slip’ happens.

they also muted the audio for a solid 2-3 seconds before cutting away to the safety shot.

so something was happening that wasn’t kosher for tv.

with all of this alone in mind, i think is solid judgement for GMA to pull the plug.

he’s a loose canon who can’t be trusted to perform on live tv.

it’s a legal and logistical nightmare.

keep in mind, i haven’t once mention the fact that he kissed a man.

now, you can’t argue that his performance was adult themed and would probably be rated at LEAST TV-14.

GMA is a G rated show. it’s early in the morning and the audience is completely different.
his AMA performance was appropriate for his audience at that time.

that’s why i don’t feel like his GMA cancellation was homophobic.

now, CBS Early Show…. blatant homophobia. just wow.
